Retain Your Google Analytics Data When GDPR Takes Effect on 5/25/18
As artists and photographers, creating art is your passion. What about technical business regulations, such as GDPR? I'm guessing... not so much passion there.
But that's okay. We make it our daily mission to look out for our customers (and blog readers!) by providing them with critical, up-to-date information and advice from the wide world of selling art online.
We stay on top of stuff like this, so that you can focus on staying inspired and creating art.
So – what you need to know is that GDPR is a complex set of new regulations being put into effect on May 25th, 2018.
This post is about how to retain your Google Analytics data after GDPR goes into effect. It is not a complete guide to GDPR, and it should not be taken as legal advice.
Saving your Google Analytics data takes just a minute. We show you how in the video above, or you can follow along step-by-step with the written instructions below.
Here are the steps:
1) Log-in to your Google Analytics account
2) Click Admin on the bottom left
3) Click Tracking Info
4) Click Data Retention
4) Set User and event data retention to Do not automatically expire
And you're all set!
After changing that one setting, you can now sleep easy knowing that your data will stay intact after May 25th.
WARNING: You must make this change before the May 25th deadline or you will likely lose some of your data.
